What do you want? I am not sure what I want.
Tuesday, Apr. 29, 2003 - 9:01 a.m.
I would imagine that on any given week end, there are literally thousands of people in the world that are at a store somewhere and they are buying a quarter inch drill bit.
The thing that I find funny about this is the fact that not one of them probably really wants a quarter inch drill bit.
I guess I am writing this as a continuation of my thoughts about objects of desire, and my seeming inability to focus on them, leaving me seeking that which in reality I do not want.
If I were to ask every person who buys a quarter inch drill bit this week end, what did you want, I believe that almost all of them would tell me they want a quarter inch drill bit.
Only that is not really what they want.
The really want a quarter inch hole in something.
There are probably a lot of different things they want the hole for.
The one thing they have in common is wanting that hole.
these words are a link to something I wrote somewhere else today.
